Literacy
To improve student learning and achievement, teachers at all levels K-12 use knowledge of effective oral and written communications, reading, mathematics, and technology to facilitate and support direct instruction, active inquiry, collaboration, and positive interaction.
Rationale: This category means that teachers at every grade use their knowledge of effective oral and written communications, reading, mathematics, and technology to insure literacy for all students. This category will be evident in the following assignments because they promote the use of technology and other educational platforms that support the growth of students. This category will be evident in my future classroom because I want my way of teaching to evolve just like everything else around me. There will be moments where I must step outside of my own comfort zone to support the instruction and active inquiry my students need.
Both assignments focus on student’s literacy and share ways on how to help children become better readers. In my CTRD website, I have different lesson designs that explain different ways to incorporate phoneme awareness into your everyday lessons. My tutoring video shares how I was able to use technology as a resource for my tutoring session. It definitely caused me to step outside of my comfort zone because I’m not really good with technology.
