In one of my Foundations courses, I remember my teacher stressing the importance of being kind. He wanted our actions beyond the classroom to show that we were capable of being kind and tolerant of people. This message really stuck with me because we do live in a world full of so much hate. I think as an educator is important for me to emphasize the importance of being kind because we live in a world that truly needs it. Children spend so much of their time in school, so it is extremely important that teachers lead by example. I truly want every student that walks into my classroom to know that they are loved, valued, and respected. Once they have experienced that, I want them to give that same love and kindness to someone else and make a difference in the world. Remember, it is a lot harder to mean to someone than it is to be kind. Be kind always!
